June 15th and 16th Art Journaling at The Ink Pad in New York City

 No automatic alt text available.

I am very happy to announce that I will be returning to teach two very special evening workshops at The Ink Pad in New York City on June 15th and 16th.
Both classes are fresh and new workshops that teach a wide variety of NEW ideas involving acrylic painting, collage, creative processing, self expression, composition, design, layering and much, much more.  Each workshop stands on its own or can be taken together to expand your creativity.

Beginners to advanced are welcome in ALL of the classes.

My workshops are always process-based learning while creating a unique product.

Please note there is a small supply list.

The class fee includes a vast array of mediums and materials to complete the necessary project. It is well known that I do not travel light to any of my classes. I will be bringing such things as:
  • acrylic paints
  • all materials necessary to complete the project (handmade paper, decorative paper, board, glue, etc...)
  • bookbinding supplies (thread, awl, needles)
  • rubber stamps
  • ink pads
  • decorative tape
  • stencils
  • pens and markers
  • gel medium
  • collage ephemera and much, much more.

The Journal Experience

The Journal Experience: A Master Class
As artists and individuals, we’re always learning. We seek guidance from our favorite artists. They inspire and spark ideas in us. How can we borrow from them to create entirely new and unique pieces?
Journaling doesn’t have to be about special events nor does it have to be limited to what you ate for breakfast. In this unique workshop, we’ll focus on the everyday, simple moments that add up to an individual lifetime of experiences and thoughts. You’ll learn how to revel in the daily moments and turn them into art journal pages. Be prepared to get messy, be pushed out of your box, laugh, learn (a lot) and have some fun.
Supply list: a journal , an apron (or wear clothes that you don't mind possibly getting paint on), scissors, a selection of favorite collage ephemera (think about reading this when choosing your images. Try to limit your selection to a large gallon size ziploc bag. Think maybe ten to twelve focal images and 2 dozen pieces of background paper to use.), cork back metal ruler, a few pieces of paper towels OR an old rag, a couple of your favorite paint brushes, an old food container to hold paint water that you can toss after class, a few of your favorite glue sticks (one extra large glue stick will last you longer), an old catalog or magazine to glue on (if you don't want to use all of your waxed paper for this) and a couple of pieces of waxed paper (to put in your journal when you are done so the pages don't stick and to use as a palette.)

Juicy Journal Pages:

Juicy Journal Pages

In this special workshop, work quick and fast, without judgment, the idea being to keep your inner critic silent. You will create a series of pages that are unique to you while learning a variety of new layering techniques involving collage, acrylics, markers, stencils, stamps and more.

After awhile, we will step back and think about our pages. Learn to look and process your pages with new eyes. We'll then rework our pages into all new original journal pages.
